Shri Vijay Udaysuriji Maharaj was the disciple of Acharya Shri Vijay Nemisuriji
Maharaj. His name was Narottam before initiation. He has dedicated his
life to Jainism and Acharya Shri Vijay Nemisuriji Maharaj. His father's
name was Hemchandbhai and mother's name was Jamanaben.
He was born at Botad on 11th day of bright half of the month Kartik in
1955 V.S. After passing away (kaladharma) of Acharya Shri Vijay Nandansuriji
Maharaj on the 30th December 1975 (Magasar sudi - 14, 2032 V.S.) at Tagadi
near Dhanahuka in Gujarat. Acharya Shri Vijay Suryodayasuriji has established
a new Jain tirth-temple named Shri Nandanavan Tirth in sweet memories
of the late Acharya Shri on the land of his Kaladharma (demise). Now a
day every year 2 or 3 lakhs people visit with reverence this Nandanavan
Tirth.
This great man had four or five virtues. He was afraid of worldly existence.
He was an ocean of affection. His simplicity and largeness of heart were
'metchless'. He was a supreme devotee of guru. His heart was filled with
unshaken sincerity towards Jainism and constant care of the welfare of
all. He had a deep insight into secrets of life. He was well-versed and
proficient in all scriptures. Under his auspicious blessings and guidance
innumerable temples, Upashrayas i.e. residences for Jain monk and nuns
and other religious activities in Jain community were maintained and being
maintained. According to our scripture-proved belief, every activity is
caused by object, place, time and mental position (bhava). Of these four
'time' (kala) is an important factor. This factor of 'time' is not only
necessary but indispensable as an auspicious time for beginning auspicious
works. Not begun at an auspicious time, auspicious works can seldom be
successful and fully fruitful. From this point of view, to indicate an
auspicious time for beginning an auspicious work an extraordinary help
to Jain society.
In this context, His Holiness Acharya Shri Vijay Nandansuriji was a great
benefactor of all person of Jain community. His Muhurta (indication of
auspicious time for beginning a work) was regarded to be a special support.
Among all, there was an eager desire for made rush after his Muhurtas.
There was an established faith that a Muhurta should be got only from
Nandansuriji Maharaj and the work begun at that Muhurta was accomplished
fruitfully and peacefully.
Special knowledge of astrology and sculpture, consent to good works done
by others or under auspicious guidance of others in Jain society, total
absence of partiality as to mine or yours, indications of muhurta with
good wishes, best compliments and blessings for success without any difficulty
for each and every function and the person - all these were a sufficient
reason to inspire the faith of all persons to him.
What a large number of works of Jainism were done under his auspicious
guidance and leadership!
The conference of Jain monks of Tapagaccha of Swetambar Sect. of the year
2014 V.S., the 25th Nirvana Centenary of Bhagavan Mahavira, the establishment
of 504 idols of various Tirthankaras in a new temple on Mt. Shatrunjaya
- for these and a series of innumerable such works of Jainism, credit
undoubtedly goes to him.
